SAR made contact with me (via blowing whistles) at 10:15pm and we walked 2 ½ hours out. I was surprisingly relaxed, apart from being upset about Frankie, I had full confidence in my PLB and knew they would get to me as soon as they could. (And I knew Frankie would do her best too). The team that rescued me were amazing, and were impressed with how prepared I was, and I was actually a bit proud of myself for being so prepared

As the temperature dropped around 11:50 pm, and the rain and wind picked up, I began showing signs of hypothermia. Fearing that no one would come before dawn in this weather, I made the tough decision to start walking when I had regained some energy.

In the end, we learned that David had a partial cervical fracture. Calling for rescue turned out to be the right decision, and we were glad to get him out of the challenging situation. Though our mission faced setbacks, we remained resilient, knowing that safety comes first in the great outdoors.

Concerned about Cat's condition, I thought about spending a cold and hungry night to revitalize her for the trip back. But then I decided to call for help instead and activated my ACR ResQLink 400 PLB. Within an hour, a helicopter arrived, and we signaled with bright-colored items. The crew quickly got us to safety, and we were relieved to be warm and dry, heading home for a hot pie. I'm grateful for the rescue team's quick response and relieved to be back after a challenging adventure

The once crystal-clear waters turned murky and swift, and the weather, instead of improving as we had hoped, took a turn for the worse. Faced with this unexpected weather shift and the now treacherous river crossings, we made the decision to wait, believing the conditions would improve. In hindsight, this proved to be a mistake.

ResQLink VIEW PLB Saves Doctor from Shock after Severe Broken Ankle

Following the rescue, it was revealed that Rosario had suffered fractures in her ankle at three different locations. The time elapsed between her accident and the evacuation had left her in a state of shock. Nevertheless, due to the dependable performance of the ResQLink PLB-425 and the proficient response of the rescue team, Rosario is now on her path to recovery. Her resilience and the unity of our club members, along with the professional emergency services, will surely inspire more adventures in her future. Rosario eagerly anticipates rejoining her friends in the great outdoors, aiming for early 2024 to once again explore the beauty of nature.

Clinging to the slope, he searched for secure handholds and places to anchor the pack. Inch by inch, he ascended, eventually reaching the halfway point of the treacherous climb. Then, calamity struck as the branch he depended on for support gave way. His body plummeted approximately 40 feet to the rocky bottom, landing on his back near the pool at the base of a waterfall.

Next morning when I got out of the tent I found that I could barely walk and it was at that point we set off the beacon. An hour later we heard the sound of the Westpac Helicopter and shortly after the search and rescue team had arrived. They assessed me and then we decided to hobble to the helicopter for a trip to the hospital.
