What happened?
So Ed and I have known each other for a while now as members of the local deer stalking club, we have bumped into each other at meetings and other events. 12 months ago I bumped into Ed while my son and I were out hunting. He said he had been meaning to get in touch with me as he knew I hunted this area and wanted some help. Anyway that day we were sitting looking for deer when Ed spots one. Long story short he says that my son can shoot it if I were to take him hunting on another occasion. Fast forward to Sunday and we leave Upper Hutt at 3.30am and head to our destination. unfortunately the weather was not in our favour and we did not see any animals to harvest. We decide to head home. 20 minutes later as we step over a little creek Ed slips and hits the ground behind me. After an assessment based on me being able to get him out I decide that using my ACR is the best option as he was in so much pain he kept fainting. I set the beacon off and the rest is history. Great team effort from Life Flight and the rescue centre.
