ACR Electronics Receives FAA TSO Authorization for New ARTEX ELT-DT for US-Manufactured Transport Aircraft

Posted on December 19, 2024

Fort Lauderdale, FL – ACR Electronics, a global leader in safety and survival technology, is proud to announce its ARTEX ELT 5000 Emergency Locator Transmitter with Distress Tracking (ELT-DT) has received FAA TSO C126c certification. Designed to align with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) recommendations, European Union regulations, and other global civil aviation mandates, the ARTEX ELT 5000 enhances aviation safety by ensuring autonomous distress tracking during emergency events. The ARTEX ELT 5000 is the only GADSS-compliant solution available for US-manufactured transport aircraft throughout 2025, ensuring seamless compliance with ICAO’s safety mandates and enhancing global aviation safety.

Under ICAO’s GADSS initiative, commercial aircraft delivered from January 2025 must autonomously report their location during distress conditions anywhere in the world. Engineered to meet these rigorous requirements, the ARTEX ELT 5000 represents a significant advancement in aviation safety technology, providing precise, real-time tracking capabilities that ensure faster response during critical situations.

Key Features of the ARTEX ELT 5000:

  • Autonomous Distress Tracking: Automatically activates upon detecting distress conditions and transmits location data while the aircraft is still in flight.
  • Real-Time Distress Tracking Location Reporting: Utilizes GNSS technology to autonomously acquire the aircraft’s location and send precise coordinates to Cospas-Sarsat.
  • Seamless Avionics Integration: Designed to interface with aircraft avionics systems for reliable activation and data transmission.
  • Global Satellite Coverage: Operates on the Cospas-Sarsat satellite network, ensuring worldwide monitoring and response capabilities.

Unlike traditional fixed ELTs, the ARTEX ELT 5000 sets a new standard for emergency location tracking by delivering real-time location updates while the aircraft is still in flight. This advanced capability allows search and rescue authorities to respond quickly and accurately, enhancing safety and reducing search time in emergency scenarios.  Additionally, the ELT 5000 has the capability to cancel alerts if the original distress condition is resolved.
