An EPIRB or Personal Locator Beacon is an important safety device used for transmitting distress signals to search and rescue authorities in case of an emergency. It is important to note that beacon batteries have a limited lifespan around 5-10 year and must be replaced at regular intervals to ensure the device functions properly when needed. The replacement interval can vary depending on the type and model of the beacon and the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Replacing an EPIRB or PLB battery should only be done by a certified technician or authorized service center to ensure that the device is properly serviced and tested after the battery replacement.  The Battery replacement is not like replacing batteries in your TV remote, this product has one purpose and that is to save your life, so we have a fully trained network of battery replacement centers around the globe who have taken all of the ACR training and are fully insured that can assist you with these battery replacements.

They will check your beacons case and antenna for any cracks or wear and tear.  They will not only replace the battery pack with a new fresh battery built by ACR, but they will then reassemble the beacon with all new O-rings, gaskets, hardware and put your beacon through a series of tests to ensure it is transmitting correctly, waterproof, and ready for action before returning it back to you.

If you have one locally, you should be able to drop your EPIRB off and have the service work done in a matter of a few days.

Unfortunately for some of you, you may need to ship your beacon to them to have the service completed, but first start by giving them a call and getting a quote.  Our Battery Replacement network will assist you with how to ship the beacon to them.
